Dr. Renee Ortega is a therapist who believes in weaving a multimodal lens into client care. By focusing on more than just a presenting problem and widening her perspective to consider multicultural and critical social factors and their intersection with the client’s current family system, she is able to view her clients contextually and holistically and thus provide more attuned care.

Renee is a board-certified Dance/ Movement Therapist (DMT), a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and a Certified Occupational Therapy (COTA) professional with over 17 years of experience working with clients and families across the lifespan.  Renee holds a PhD in International Psychology with a trauma concentration from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a masters degree in Dance/ Movement Therapy from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.  Renee is trained in EMDR therapy, and is certified, specialized and trained in the areas of Sensory Integration and Praxis Testing (SIPT), Authentic Movement and Intercultural Communication.

Renee is a faculty member and the research coordinator of the Occupational Therapy department at Long Island University and serves on the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. She is also a faculty member of the Pratt Institute Dance/ Movement Therapy graduate program.
