Dance/Movement Psychotherapy with Infants, Young Children and Their Families. (Warsaw, Poland)
Workshop with Dr. Suzi Tortora
The focus of Introduction to the Ways of Seeing Program, a specialized training lead and developed by Suzi Tortora will sensitize the participants to the ways young children communicate, learn and express themselves through their movement and senses. Dr. Tortoraβs Ways of Seeing dance movement psychotherapy program uses the language of movement and the senses as an entryway into the young childβs world, to connect to children, stimulating their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, and improving their quality of life. Through lecture, video, worksheets and experiential participation workshop participants will explore nonverbal cues expressed by infants and young children and experience dance/movement activities that support early attachment relationships and social, emotional, and cognitive development.

15 Sessions. Tuesdays 8:00PM β 9:50PM, Beginning August 26, 2014
Teacher: Dr. Suzi Tortora
Enrollment limited. Students gain a deeper understanding of the role played by multi-sensory learning in all levels of a young child's development, resulting from the complex relationship between the brain and body. Using the Ways of Seeing program, they learn how to apply this perspective across a continuum of infant/childhood mental health practices, from typical parent-infant relationships to various special populations. Through lecture, video, worksheets, and experimental participation, students come to understand the role of movement in development and learn age-appropriate movement, dance, and play activities that enhance the physical, cognitive, communicative, and social/emotional development of children. Certificate students must register in person with a certificate registration form signed by the program coordinator. (3 credits)
